What is Spirulina Algae ?
Spirulina is a microscopic blue-green algae that exists as a
single-celled organism turning sunlight into life energy.
It is one of the first life forms designed by nature more than                   3.6 billion years ago. Spirulina contains billions of years of
evolutionary wisdom in its DNA and is an offspring of earth’s
first photosynthetic life forms.
Under the microscope, Spirulina is blue-green and has
the appearance of a spiral of long thin threads. Spirulina is
exceedingly adaptable and occurs in a wide variety of environments
including fresh water, tropical springs, saltwater and saltpans.

"Nature’s Encapsulated Miracle " - SPIRUZINA

SPIRUZINA is natural spray dried Spirulina micro-algae ( in powder
form) and it's the Ultimate "SuperFood" suitable for all marine
fish species. It is grown and harvest in the U.S.A. Studies
had shown that Spirulina enhances coloration of fish as it contains
High level of Carotenoid and to help to increase uniform growth
rates in them. The reproduction in fish had also been reported to
increase after the use of spirulina. This super food has the most
remarkable concentration of functional nutrients ever known in food - animal or plant.

Nature’s Miracle Food From The SuN

Never before in the history of nutritional science has there been a
product that fully delivers the nutrient potential of the superfood
Spirulina. A highly digestible food, spirulina is at least 60% vegetable protein, which is predigested by the algae. It is higher in protein than any other food. 1 tsp of Spirulina contains 280% DV Beta Carotene, 110% B12, 15% Iron, 2% Calcium and no fat. Its outstanding nutritional profile also includes the essential fatty acids: GLA fatty acid, lipids, the nucleic acids (RNA and DNA), B complex, vitamin C and E and phytochemicals, such as carotenoids, chlorophyll (blood purifier), and phycocyanin (a blue pigment), which is a protein that is known to inhibit cancer. The carotenoids and chlorophyll may also contribute to Spirulina's immunogenic effects.

Spirulina is two to six times richer in B12 than its nearest rival, raw beef liver. Spirulina is 58 times richer than raw spinach in iron. Spirulina is nature's richest whole-food source of Vitamin E. It's 3 times richer than raw wheat germ and its biological activity is 49% greater than synthetic vitamin E. Spirulina is nature's richest whole-food source of Beta-Carotene (Pro Vitamin A). It's 25 times richer than raw carrots. Unlike the preformed vitamin A of synthetics and fish liver oils, beta-carotene is completely non-toxic even in mega doses.

Spirulina is nature's richest whole-food source of antioxidants. It contains a spectrum of every natural antioxidant known, including the antioxidant vitamins B-1 and B-6, the minerals zinc, manganese and copper, the amino acid methionine, and the superantioxidants beta-carotene, vitamin E and trace element selenium. Spirulina is nature's richest whole-food source of Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA). Its oils are 3 times richer in GLA than evening primrose oil. Studies have indicated that GLA helps lower blood cholesterol and high blood pressure and eases such conditions as arthritis, premenstrual pain, eczema and other skin conditions. Spirulina is nature's richest whole-food source of Chlorophyll - many times richer than alfalfa or wheat grass.

Spirulina Enhances Color
The 5 ppt carotenoid pigments that are concentrated in Spirulina algae improve and intensify the coloration in fish.  Chlorophyll and phycocyanin also enhance the skin colors. This depends to a large degree, upon the pigments that they get from their food. The most important pigments are of a class called carotenoids. These include beta-carotene and xanthophylls. Fish species vary greatly in terms of the type of carotenoid pigments they can use, and how they individually exhibit these coloring agents in their skin.

Spirulina is the natural food highest in carotenoid pigments, some 20 times the amount found in carrots. Spirulina contains at least six forms of this pigment providing a "rainbow" of color possibilities. When feeding your fish a food containing Spirulina, you will see better colorations within a few weeks. Spirulina is a rich source of A and B vitamins, especially B-12, and naturally chelated and bio-available calcium and iron.

Increased Survival Rates

Studies in Japan on marine yellowtail showed that fingerlings fed a ration of 0.5% (5 ppt) spirulina resulted in a significant gain in survival over the non-Spirulina fed group. Similar results were obtained from professional Discus fish breeders who incorporated Spirulina powder into the diet for newborn Discus fry.

Less Medication

Fish farmers have found that including Spirulina in the diet reduced the amount of medication or therapeutics that are normally required to treat sick fish. Spirulina also reduced toxicity of medications and may itself have anti-viral properties. Most disease treatments on the market are "water baths" in which the fish must absorb the drug from the aquarium water. Unfortunately, the treatment water is often discharged down the drain into our environment and waterways. Orally feeding your fish a diet containing Spirulina could effectively reduce or eliminate the need for bath treatments. Using Spirulina algae as a "prophylactic" treatment in place of antibiotics can effectively reduce wastewater pollutants, eliminating costly treatment systems and increasing the effectiveness of existing systems.

Good Substitutes For Lettuce, Spinach Or Marine Algae

Why is it important to have Spirulina in exotic fish diets? For many species of exotic aquarium fish, algae is an essential part of the diet. Lettuce and spinach are poor substitutes for algae as they do not have the same nutritional value. Spirulina has several important nutritional features that are important for beautiful healthy fish.Spirulina's cell wall is rich in muco-proteins that enhance the natural mucus layer of the fishes skin. This results in a shiny appearance, healthier fins are less prone to tear, and have improved resistance to skin infections. Spirulinas soft cell wall enables it to be easily digested.

Many fish eat a lot of blue green algae in the wild. Blue-green algae like Spirulina have a special protein called Phycocyanin not found in other algae or terrestrial plants. Japanese scientists have linked Phycocyanin to improved kidney and liver function. They observed that the fish grow less obese and have improved survival rates, superior growth and appearance over those not fed with Spirulina.
Spirulina contains essential fatty acids that are fundamental to proper development and functioning of the internal organs. Without the proper fatty acids, many saltwater fish will not breed or survive.

Boost For The Immune System

Spirulina is a powerful tonic for the immune system. In scientific studies of fish, spirulina consistently improves immune system function. Medical scientists find that spirulina not only stimulates the immune system, it actually enhances the ability to generate new blood cells. Important parts of the immune system, the bone marrow stem cells, macrophages, T-cells and natural killer cells, exhibit enhanced activity. The spleen and thymus glands show enhanced function. Scientists also observe spirulina causing macrophages to increase in number, become "activated" and more effective at killing germs.

Feeding studies show that even small amounts of spirulina build up both the humeral and cellular arms of the immune system. Spirulina accelerates production of the humeral system (antibodies and cytokines), allowing it to better protect against invading germs. The cellular immune system includes T-cells, macrophages, B-cells and the anti-cancer natural killer cells. These cells circulate in the blood and are especially rich in organs like the liver, spleen, thymus, lymph nodes, adenoids, tonsils and bone marrow. Spirulina up-regulates these key cells and organs, improving their ability to function in spite of stresses from environmental toxins and infectious agents .

Increased And More Uniform Growth Rates

When fish are fed spirulina at the recommended 0.5-4.0% inclusion rate, there is an increase in fat transporting enzymes which results in reduced fat storage in flesh, nutrient utilization and improved utilization of fat for growth.

Intestinal Flora In Fish

Spirulina improves the intestinal flora in fish by the breaking down of otherwise indigestible feed components, thereby extracting more nutrition from the feed. The same beneficial flora or bacteria produce vitamins and displace harmful substances which is why fish fed with Spirulina have less intestinal compaction, a slimmer abdomen, and are more resistant to infection. Spirulina stimulates the production of enzymes that transport fats within the fish's body. The fish utilizes the fat to power growth instead of just storing it.
